I’m not a good speaker or writer, but God has blessed John MacArthur with the ability to say so clearly what I cannot. In this video Kirk Cameron and John MacArthur discuss how the gospel is not a feel good message, and becoming a Christian is NOT something you do to improve your life! GREAT MESSAGE, GUYS!
There are so many “Christians” that just don’t get it. They think they can “just believe” and be saved, but that’s not what we’ve been called to do. Jesus has asked for a life commitment and a denial of self (Luke 14:26-27), and NOT simply a belief in him. It’s the so-called Christians that don’t understand repentance and TLC (total life commitment) who cause the outside world to call us hypocrites. For anyone who’s ever thought that Christians are hypocrites because they have a holier than thou attitude, allow me to set the record straight. Matt. 24:51, hypocrites will be thrown into hell. In order for someone to become a Christian, they must acknowledge their own sinfulness. A true Christian is someone who’s come to God in contrition (a sorrow for sins caused by a profound understanding of the extent of their sinfulness Ps.34:18; Ps. 51:17; Mark 4:16), so they understand fully that they aren’t holy (but they are called to be holy 1 Peter 1:15). If they’re a genuine Christian, they may be pointing out your sinfuness so that you understand the seriousness of your condition. Take this test to see if you’re good enough to go to heaven to find out more.
FOR ANYONE WHO CALLS THEMSELVES A CHRISTIAN: Do a study of the word “repentance.” Most people are familiar with it, but they don’t understand what it really means. You owe it to yourself to study this because if you’re off slightly, it could mean eternity in hell. I graduated from a Christian school and was wrong about my salvation! DO THE STUDY! EVANGELIZE TO OTHERS CORRECTLY! Don’t lead someone to hell with a false gospel (Gal. 1:8) of ”just believe.”
